Brushes with Death and Brown Bear, Jesse Tatman. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk with longtime hunting guide, Jesse Tatman. In October of 2021 while leading his pack horses back to the trailhead another hunter heard the approaching horses, thought it was a bear, and began shooting at Jesse and his horses. Jesse recounts seeing the muzzle blast at close range and the events that transpired. He also shared several charging brown bear stories from years of guiding in Alaska.
Back to Colorado. 3rd Season Report. In this episode we talk about the third season, our reports, and reports we've received from others. We also talk about the 4th season outlook. This is a fun time of year to be hunting Mule Deer. Overall it has been a tougher year in terms of Mule Deer but we are optimistic that the extremely late dates will make a difference.

Hunting a New Unit For The First Time. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk about hunting a new unit for the first time. There is a lot that we can do to increase our chances for success before the hunt and as we arrive in a new area. Time is critical so anything we can do to gain knowledge beforehand is beneficial. We talk about the details of learning a unit before you get there and then what we personally do when we arrive. From E scouting to glassing we talk about it all. We also call Adam Bronson in the field and get his opinion on the subject.
Preparing for the Hunt, with Special Guest: Scott Thompson. In this episode we talk about all of our preparations for the upcoming hunts. Colorado is just around the corner with second season next week. Utah General Rifle has just begun. We call Scott Thompson of Thompson Long Range and talk with him about guns, ammo, shooting, and hunting. It's truly a fun time of year for us all.
Making the Most of Our Tags. In this episode we finally all get back in the office together to catch up on the hunts so far this year. We've had some highs and some lows. We hear from John and Wyatt about their recent success on elk hunts as well as some of the tag soup hunts others have experienced. We call Jason on the phone in Nevada and get the update on his hunt there. We love this time of year and the memories it brings but it's also fun to get back together and talk about all that has transpired
EP 216: It's Elk Month!! Field Judging and Hunting Bulls. Many of our staff is out on the road chasing bulls. September is the time we all dream of when it comes to bugles and bulls. We talk with Adam on his elk hunt as well as Devin who is hunting elk in Colorado. We also talk with David Matthews about elk in New Mexico and Arizona. We also get everyones take on field judging bulls on the hunt.
Chasing Tags and Antelope. This week we spent some time in Nevada chasing antelope with members of the Epic Outdoors Staff. Wyatt Bowles and Devin Archibald both took 80"+ antelope. Although we have downplayed the difficulty of antelope hunts in the past the hunts werent without their challenges. As hunters we learn to roll with the punches, adapt, and adjust to circumstances. That is exactly what we had to do in these situations. When all was said and done we came home with two great bucks. Devin is in the office and shares his story with us all.
EP 214: Under Armour Product Release 2021 with Travis Gessley. In this Episode we talk with Travis of Under Armour about the 2021 product release that has now begun. For years we have used and loved the Raider Pants but have asked for some heat relief. UA answered with the new UA Raider HD and the Raider Lite pants. The Raider HD has heat dumps allowing for heat let off. The Raider lite is made of a breathable mesh fabric. These are some of the new products that we will talk about in this episode as well as others. Were looking forward to having more time in the field with the new gear.
EP 213: Drought to Flood, News of the West. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk about the News of the West including, Canada Travel Opening, Wyoming Draw Changes, Epic Updates, Hunt Giveaway Winner News, etc. As we are in the podcast we receive Flash Flood warnings and start getting pictures from town of mass Floods her in Cedar City. What a drastic change from the extreme drought conditions that have been prevalent this year.
Surviving Rattlesnake Bites in the Field. In this episode we talk with two special guests who tell their stories of Rattlesnake bites while out in the field. While hunting the west it is fairly common to come across a rattlesnake. Last week we started wondering about the costs, and what actually getting bit would be like. After reaching out in a previous podcast we had two guests that were willing to share their stories with us. Special thanks to Levi and JB for sharing with us.
Still Some Hope for 2021. In this episode we talk about some of the chances you still have to get your hands on the tag of a lifetime. There are still a few open raffles that provide incredible opportunities to the tag holders. These include the Wyoming Super Tags and The Nevada Dream Tags. We talk with a winner from last year who killed a giant ram in Nevada and also chat with Jack Robb of Nevada Wildlife.

Colorado Draw Results, and Hunt Winners. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk about the Colorado Mule deer draw results being released today. We also talk about upcoming deadlines for the remaining western states. We talk with the Nevada Silver State Mule Deer Tag Winner about his 1 in 10,000 odds and then call a past Epic Hunt winner that just came home from his successful Brown bear hunt in Alaska with a 10 foot bear. EP 206: News of the West. Draws and Drought. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we go through new of the west including draw updates draw deadlines in the western states. We also talk with Outfitter David Matthews about Arizona and New Mexico, drought, Mule Deer, Elk, and Coues Deer. We then hear from Eric Hunt of Arizona Desert Outfitters. Eric drew for the National Park Bison project. There is a lot happening this time of year and were ready for scouting.
10 Years of KUIU with Brendan Burns. In this episode of the Epic Outdoors Podcast we talk with Brendan Burns of KUIU. We have worked closely with Brendan for a decade. From the birth of KUIU til now we have seen incredible innovation and success and are happy to have been a part of it. We also talk trucks, maps, and hunt apps as application season continues and Colorado approaches.
